Upgrading to Aptana Studio 1.5.x

From Aptana Studio 1.2

Aptana Studio 1.5.0 is based on a whole new architecture and therefore will require a new install. Current users of 1.2.7 will not be able to update nor will they be prompted for an update. Aptana Andretti Alpha users will also be required to re-install as well although they may be prompted to update. This new architecture will offer users greater performance and lower memory usage.

From Aptana Studio 1.5.0 Standalone

Aptana Studio 1.5.1 contains a hot fix to the update system (primarily for Studio Standalone). Studio 1.5.0 WILL NOT automatically update to 1.5.1 and will require users to manually add update sites to their Studio. By following the below instructions, your Aptana Studio will auto-update in the future.

  1. Open the "Preferences" Window.
    • Windows Users: Go to "Window" -> "Preferences"
    • Mac Users: Go to "Aptana Studio" -> "Preferences"
  2. Expand "Install/Update" -> "Available Software Sites"
  3. Add the following update sites:
  4. Run "Help"->"Check for Updates"

From Eclipse + Aptana Studio Plugin

  • Eclipse 3.5 Users: Select "Help"->"Check for Updates..."
  • Eclipse 3.4 Users:
    1. Select "Help"->"Software Updates..."
    2. Select all the "Aptana" plugins
    3. Click the Update Button
  • To Turn on Automatic Updates:
    1. Open the "Preferences" Window.
      • Windows Users: Go to "Window" -> "Preferences"
      • Mac Users: Go to "Eclipse" -> "Preferences"
        1. Expand "Install/Update" -> "Automatic Updates"
        2. Select "Automatically find new updates and notify me" checkbox.
