Aptana Studio supports the Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X operating systems.

Supported Operating Systems and Architectures

• Windows - x86 architecture
• Mac OS - OS X \ PowerPC architecture, OS X \ Intel architecture. OS X 10.4 or later
• Linux - x86 architecture, GTK windowing system

Hardware Recommendations

Aptana Studio will run on most modern hardware, but for best performance, we recommend the following resources for each platform:

• Windows - 512 MB RAM, Pentium 4-level processor
• Mac OS - 512 MB RAM, G5 or Intel-based machine
• Linux - 512 MB RAM, Pentium 4-level processor

JRE

Using Aptana Studio requires you to have v1.5.0 or later of the 32 bit Java JRE installed on your computer.

• Windows and Linux: You need to download the JRE separately from Sun if one is not already present on your system.
• Mac OS X: Not supplied because an appropriate JRE is included.
• Windows and Mac OS X will require a 32-bit JRE

To determine which JVM you are using, check your log file (see Accessing your Aptana log), and look for the following entries:

java.version=[Version will be here]
java.vendor=[Vendor name will be here]
